On 1st April 2019 we had a fabulous and exciting ‘Maths Day’. The morning was filled with the children discovering new maths skills and creating art work using maths as its base. In Year 6 the children were trusted with compasses with which they calculated different radii to draw various sized circles. They then used these circles to create artwork. Paul Klee’s ‘The Castle and the Sun’ was the piece of art Year 3/4 used to produce their own interpretation using the basic maths shapes. Symmetry was another theme used across the school. In the afternoon, the parents were invited into their child’s class to see how maths is taught and help solve the problems set by the teacher using ‘Bar Modelling’. Lots of fun was had.
