Year 3 - Mrs Heys

Mrs Heys

Welcome to the Year 3 class page.

I hope your children had a lovely first day at school, myself and Mrs Beg have enjoyed spending time with the children today. We have managed to do lots of fun activities.

Our topic for this term will be 'The Stone Age'

I am looking forward to spending this year teaching your children.

We will be taking part in lots of fun learning activities, so please check back here regularly to see what we have been up to in class.

Important Information

Spellings will be sent home each Friday, could you please practise these with your child over the week. They will then be tested the following Friday.

At St. Joseph's we believe that reading is the key to success. It is important that you read with your child each night. The children will fetch their reading book home each day, once you have heard them read, please sign their reading diary to let us know. Each child will have their new reading record and book by this Friday (4th September 2020).

P.E. is on Tuesday mornings, please ensure your child's kit is in school for this.

Homework will be given out each Friday and will be currently set online, usually on Purple mash. I will send out a note each Friday to let you know what the homework will be. The homework set will usually be based on the work covered by your child in the week, so it will not be new learning for your child. However, if they have any problems completing it, I am always on hand to help them at break time.

Attendance and punctuality is vital to aid your child’s learning at school.

They need to be at school on time at 8:50a.m.

If they miss days or even a few minutes this has a detrimental effect as they find it difficult to catch up.

It also has a negative impact on the other children in the class as it becomes a distraction if your child walks into the class late.

Thank you

Miss Heys

Below is the list of the year 3/4 statutory words - these are the words that the children need to know how to read and spell by the end of year 4.

We practise a selection of these each week in out spelling test.

This is an online copy to go alongside the paper copy that was in your home learning packs. Please continue to learn a few words each week using the methods I outlined on the sheet.
