Year 5

Mrs Owens

We would like you to keep practising your handwriting at home

heartWelcome to Year 5heart

Welcome to Year 5! We are so excited to see you all and we can't wait to get started with all our learning for this half term.

This half term we have lots of things planned for the children, including a block of swimming sessions, which will take place every Thursday afternoon for the first half term. (You will receive a letter about this on the first day back) We also have a really fun Mayan History topic planned where children will learn about how the Mayan tribe lived and compare this to how we live today. Our first class novel we will be reading is: Wonder. This is a fantastic story and I am sure the children will tell you lots about it.

I will keep you updated on our Class Dojo page with photographs and messages and I will update you with key information on here too. Please use the links at the bottom of this page to access key information or learning with your children.

Reminders:

  • Children are expected to read regularly at home and have their reading records signed. It is advised that they do this every evening.
  • PE this term will be on Tuesday  afternoon. The children will need to keep their kit in school until the end of the term when they will be able to bring it home to wash.
  • Throughout the Autumn Term, children will be going swimming on Thursday afternoons and will need a costume or shorts, towel and a swimming cap.
  • Homework will be sent out on a Friday and this is to be completed either in their homework book or online and will be due back the following Wednesday.
  • Spellings will be sent home on a Monday and children will need to learn these words for the following Monday.

We have an open door policy and we are happy to speak to you about anything you are concerned about, or want to know more information about, so feel free to grab any of us before or after school or you can message us on ClassDojo.

Here's to a great year in Year 5
