Welcome to Year 2A!

My name is Mrs Newton and I will be teaching Year 2 this year with Miss Kearns.

We have had such a positive start to our learning this year. The children have returned from the Summer holidays looking smart and coming into school with a smile on their faces. It has been lovely to get to know the children a little better this week. They have been working hard to demonstrate their skills in Phonics, Maths and Writing.

Out topics this term will focus on being chosen people of God (RE), animals (Science), coasts and the local area (Geography) and number (Maths). Children will also develop their skills in PE, Art, PSHE, Spelling, Handwriting and even participate in a Spanish lesson!

Our focus for English this term will be story writing using stories by the same author (Oliver Jeffers).'The Way Back Home' and 'The Day the Crayons Quit'.

Important Information

• PE will be on Monday morning. Children should have a full PE kit including a t-shirt in their house colour. Children should leave their PE kit in school, it will be brought home every half term. Please remove all earrings for PE days. 
• Children will receive homework on a Friday and it should be brought back the following Wednesday. 
• Children MUST read regularly to an adult at home. Please aim to read together at least 3 times a week. 
• Please make sure that you are signed up to Class Dojo as this is where I will post important messages, reminders and information about what is going on in school.
