Eco council projects 2024-2025
This year we have identified three targets that we would like to achieve as a school.
Firstly, we would like to encourage more wildlife. To accomplish this, we have set up 3 bird boxes near the reception and nursery building. We are hoping to see signs that birds are using them for nesting soon.
Our next objective was to recycle more.
We noticed that a lot of our rubbish that we throw away is single use, soft plastics. Whilst we can't recycle this material at home, the ALDI store at the bottom of New Hall Lane allows people to drop off their recycling at the store.
As of 29th April 2025, we have recycled just over 2.3kg of soft plastics. That's about the weight of an armadillo! Remember that we encourage everyone to bring in any soft plastics from home so that we can recycle them for you.
Our last project was to reduce the amount of electricity we use by ensuring that lights and screens are turned off when not in use. We introduced a switch colour system to let people know which switches should be turned off when not in use.
April Update
Thanks to everyone who brought in a book or purchased a book from our bookswap. This was a huge success and meant that books which might have lingered on shelves are now being enjoyed by their new owners!
