This week we celebrated Harvest at the Year 3/4 Class Assembly. Many parents were in attendance and it was fantastic that they came into the classroom for a coffee and biscuit with their children afterwards. Thank you all for the wonderful amount of food that you kindly donated. It will be given to our local food banks shortly and as you know it is all for a worthwhile cause.
The School Council elections have taken place today. (Tuesday 12th October) The children all voted democratically in the hall with real ballot boxes and voting slips. Miss Gregson will be leading the school council meetings- more details to follow. The elected members from Year 2 to Year 6 will be announced in Assembly on Friday morning.
We are very proud of how the children voted democratically, thinking about who would best represent their class
I thank all the parents who attended the reading workshop in great numbers. It was a very well attended event and hopefully useful to you for supporting your child at home with reading. We will run another session for parents after half term on supporting your child to read and developing vocabulary.
Please visit our Gallery Page in the Class Pages section to see the training video shown to the parents in the reading workshop.
Macmillian Coffee Morning & Balloon Race
The Macmillan coffee morning and balloon race was amazing. Thank you to all the parents, grandparents, little brother and sisters ands babies who joined us in big numbers to raise money for such an important charity. The staff team worked so well together to make it so meaningful for the community and the children. The balloon release was a very special moment. The ballooons went soaring into the sky- hopefully across the North sea! We shall see where they return from. Thank you everyone who made the morning so spectacular.
Six of our children took part in the Preston schools' U7s micro skills competition at Our Lady’s RC High School on 22nd September. The children participated in various sporting activities and competed against a number of other schools from the area. Although St Joseph’s weren’t the winning team, our children tried their very best and behaved impeccably. Well done to all that took part – Leighton McCall, Reece Jones, Kai Dearle, Maja Rolik, Caitlin Newman and Macy Singleton Martins.
