  • May Procession

    Fri 24 May 2019
Congratulations to Viktoria Stek who crowned Our Lady during our May Procession. It was lovely to have so many parishioners, governors, parents and the Sisters Adorers join us to walk through the streets in devotion to Mary. The children all sang so well.
  • Sports day - Great Outdoor Week

    Fri 24 May 2019

The sports days have been testament to sporting progess and talent at SJPS. They have been great fun with the highlight being the tug of war! Thank you to all the parents for coming to support and watch your child take part. The weather has been really good – we have been very lucky! Also great to see all the children in their house coloured t-shirts.

Trips to Beacon Fell and Ribbleton Park have been an excellent way to celebrate outdoor week. The children have shown team effort, resilience, communication skills, motivation and energy and had lots of fun! Orienteering, fire building and Happier Lancashire Assembly, tree collage, playground chalking have also added to the wonderful week.

  • Operation Encompass

    Mon 13 May 2019

From Monday 29th April 2019, our school will be participating in Operation Encompass. This is a nationwide initiative, thoroughly researched and devolved by the Home Office.

From Information available in April 2018, Operation Encompass was already in place in 33 out of 43 police forces in England and Wales and has been recognised and supported as best practice by the education bodies of both police and education.

Each school will be informed of all Domestic Abuse incidents, not just those where an offence can be identified or those which are graded as high risk. The partnership recognises that all incidents of Domestic Abuse can be harmful to children and young people.

A nominated member of staff known as a Key Adult, has been trained to liaise with the police. At St. Joseph Catholic Primary School the Key Adults are Mrs C Monaghan, Mrs A Ollerton and Miss H Cooper. They will be able to use information that has been shared with them, in confidence, to ensure that the school makes provision for possible difficulties experienced by the children or their families.

The Key Adult will keep this information confidential, and will only share it on a need to know basis, for instance, to teaching staff for the child or young person. It will not be shared with other school students.

  • Superhero Day

    Fri 10 May 2019
A fabulous morning was had with the ROCK FM team coming down to school with their trucks, Batmobiles and Avengers cars. The road was a hive of activity and the children got to sit in some super stylish sports cars. They all looked great in their super hero outfits. We raised £168 for a very worthy cause.
