The Beaver and scout leaders came into school to work alongside Year 1 and Year 2. The children were able to put up a tent; explore the tent and draw a tent; toast marshmallows round a campfire and play some camp games and sing some songs. The children were extremely well behaved and have loved learning about camping. The children were then able to link this learning into their writing in class. Well done children.
I felt so proud of the children, parents and school community for embracing the May Procession on Wednesday. The children processed down Rigby Street, onto Maitland Street, back up to Caroline Street and into church. We sang Mary songs in honour of Our Lady and pray the rosary. Father Millar led the parade. Shannon in Year 4, crowned Mary and Olivier Y4 was the crown bearer. They were both very reverent.
A wonderful celebration - Thank you to everyone. The parishioners were very positive and said it brought back many memories of taking part in May Processions themselves as children.

Become more confident at speaking English!
Help your child with their homework!
Support your child with their reading more easily!
On Wednesday 24th May 2017 from 13:30 to 15:30 there will be an opportunity for you to come and meet staff from Preston College to discuss any English language needs that you may have.
There might be learning that we can provide with Preston College to support you with English so that you can better support your children with their learning and school reading. The idea is to develop your own skills, so that you can help your children even more to improve their own skills and learning.
Please come along to the school hall at any time during the afternoon, meet the staff from Preston College and find out about how together we could better support you. It should take no more than 10-15 minutes of your time.
If you cannot get to this event, please let us know in the office so that we can try to make other arrangements for you to be in contact with the Preston College staff.
Mr Jimmy has had help from Sarees, Connor, Jack and Gilbert to develop our new allotment garden. They have done the weeding around the school to improve the appearance and they have started to grow vegetables.
This has helped the children to connect with food and begin to appreciate how good healthy food can be.
The Year 4 students went on a trip to the Ribchester Roman museum. The children learnt all about the Roman town that once stood in Ribchester and wore some replica Roman armour.

A couple of weeks ago Year 2 were selected to take part in an activity for Cbeebies. The children had to work in teams and use communication skills to compete against each other. The team from Cbeebies were watching the children very closely and we have found out........ that they have chosen Year 2 to go onto the show!!!! The children are so excited and truly deserve this amazing opportunity. We will be going to film for Cbeebies at the end of June. We can't wait! Well done Year 2!
