  • Donating food to the Salvation Army

    Year 3/4 School Councillors - Asia and Calvin delivered the food to the Salvation Army in Preston. They were amazed how much food is given out to the community. The Salvation Army distribute 300 food parcels per month feeding 1700 families. The food is ordered by date and given out to families and people who are facing hardships. Thank you so much to our generous families at St Joseph's for their donation to the food bank. The school councillors were a credit to our school, asking insightful and thoughtful questions. They also showed a lots of strength- the bags were very heavy!!

    Our champion readers in each key stage were announced in assembly today.

    These were the children who have made the most progress in their reading this term.

    it just shows what regular reading can do- well done to them all!

  • Stable Visit

    On the 11th October Year 5/6 had a wonderful day at Miss Bell's farm because they were wonderful and well behaved during her PE lessons, and won the most stable points from the school.They spent the day Orienteering, horse riding, grooming the ponies and trampolining. They ate their pack lunches outside in Miss Bell's special hut and they really enjoyed themselves, for some children it was their first experience of riding a horse.

    Preston rosettes morris dancers have had a wonderful championship weekend. A special well done to Lexi for being part of the tots team for walking away the 1st place on the day and of troupe of the year.
  • Our School Council

    I am very proud of how our school council elections have been carried out. The children have voted democratically in the hall. They have all chosen people who would be represent their school rather than just voting for their friends. They are a going to make a great team giving our children a voice in school. Well done to them all!

  • Year 3/4 Harvest Assembly

    This week we celebrated Harvest at the Year 3/4 Class Assembly.  Many parents were in attendance and it was fantastic that they came into the classroom for a coffee and biscuit with their children afterwards.  Thank you all for the wonderful amount of food that you kindly donated.  It will be given to our local food banks shortly and as you know it is all for a worthwhile cause.

  • Our School Council

    The School Council elections have taken place today. (Tuesday 12th October) The children all voted democratically in the hall with real ballot boxes and voting slips. Miss Gregson will be leading the school council meetings- more details to follow. The elected members from Year 2 to Year 6 will be announced in Assembly on Friday morning.

    We are very proud of how the children voted democratically, thinking about who would best represent their class 

  • Reading Workshop

    I thank all the parents who attended the reading workshop in great numbers. It was a very well attended event and hopefully useful to you for supporting your child at home with reading. We will run another session for parents after half term on supporting your child to read and developing vocabulary.
