  • MIND - Balloon Race

    Thank you so much for supporting today’s ‘Green Day’. It has proved to be a very special day and it was wonderful to see the children and staff dressed in green as they watched the launch of our spectacular balloon race. It was also very fitting that we were able to unveil the special bench in memory of Mrs Pye. She would be very proud of how our community has come together to raise funds for Mind – the mental health charity.

    The vaccinations will take place at school on Tuesday 20th October 2020.

    Notice of Parent Governor Election

    Dear Parents,

    The Education Act of 2002 provides that:

    • The conduct of a maintained school should be under the direction of the school’s Governing Body.
    • The Governing Body shall conduct the school with a view to promoting high standards of educational achievement.

    There is a place on our Governing Body for one Parent Governor. Parent Governors are elected by the parents of pupils currently attending the school and nursery to serve a four year term of office. If you would like to be considered for this vacancy please contact the school office for a nomination form. You can also download the form from our website www.sjps.lancs.sch.uk – Letters/Newsletters – Letters/Forms.

    Further information regarding the role of Governor and Disqualification Criteria are also available on the website and must be read prior to submitting a nomination form.

    The timetable for the election is:

    1. Nomination forms to be returned to me by 12 noon on Friday 2nd October. Please return in a sealed envelope to the school office.
    2. Should we receive more than one nomination, ballot papers will be sent to all parents on Wednesday 7th October 2020.
    3. If we only receive one nomination the nominated person will become a Governor on 3rd October 2020.

  • Free School Meals - APPLY NOW

    Dear Parents

    In light of the ongoing situation with Covid 19, some families will have been financially affected and may now be eligible to apply for Free School Meals. The eligibility criteria is below.

     

    Your child may be able to get free school meals if you get any of the following:

    • Universal Credit with a household income of less than £7,400 a year (after tax and not including any benefits you get)
    • Income-Based Jobseekers' Allowance
    • Income-Related Employment and Support Allowance
    • Child Tax Credit, not entitled to Working Tax Credit and household income less than £16,190
    • Support under part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
    • Guarantee element of State Pension Credit
    • Income Support
    • Working Tax Credit 'run on' – the payment you receive for a further four weeks after you finish work
