• Bishop of Lancaster Ordination Mass

  On Monday 9^th April, Mrs Monaghan, Mr Kay and 2 children (Mackenzie and Abigial) travelled to the Cathedral in Lancaster to celebrate the Episcopal ordination of our new Bishop of Lancaster, Canon Paul Swarbrick.

  It was a wonderful celebration off Ordination and Mass with over 100 priests, 50 bishops from all over England and the Archbishop of Westminster, Vincent Nicholls in attendance.

  A spiritually uplifting day of celebration, ceremony and prayer. We were very fortunate as a school to be part of it.

  

• CAFOD Easter Raffle

  We raised £175.00 for CAFOD through our Lenten Easter egg raffle. Thank you everyone for buying the tickets. Well done to the year 5 and 6 school council who sold the tickets - they were very busy each playtime.

  

• Easter Praise

  It was a beautiful portrayal of the Easter story shown through song dance and some amazing performances. They are quite a talented dramatic bunch of children! A special mention to Jaiden as a superb Jesus and Asia as Peter. Thank you to the parents for attending.

• Visit to the Sea Life Centre

  The KS1 phase have had a fabulous time visiting the Sea Life Centre. The children accessed two curriculum sessions learning about animal habitats and how animals breed, survive and protect their young. We had an amazing day and learnt lots! Ask your child about what they have learnt.

  

• CAFOD

  During Lent we are raising money for those less fortunate than ourselves through the Catholic charity CAFOD.
  We had a non-technology day in school called ‘Apps for Taps’ to raise money for water for a village through CAFOD. We collected £76.34. Many thanks.

  

• Lent 2018

  The whole school attended mass on Monday for Lent. They joined in the responses most reverently. Father Millar noted that parishioners were very complimentary.In assemblies in Lent, the children will be thinking about fasting, prayer and almsgiving.

  

• World Book Day 2018 at SJPS

  The children looked fantastic today in their World Book Day outfits. We had everything from princesses and superheroes to book fairies and evacuees! We started the day with assembly and winners for the best outfits were announced from each class. All winners received a £5 book voucher. The staff also joined in with the fun with all of us dressing up as characters from ‘Where’s Wally’. A fun day has been had by all!

  

• Morrisons Donation

  Many thanks to Morrisons for their donations of discontinued homeware. We will be using it to make our Summer fayre even better this year.

  

• Poetry Challenge

  Congratulations to Year 6 (Mrs Owen’s class) who won the Poetry Challenge on Friday before half term. A superb afternoon in the school hall. It was wonderful to see so many parents turn out to support our school. Thank you to you all. There are videos of the performances on the website.
