• Parish Links

  Father Millar and Sister Adorers of the Royal Heart of Jesus Christ visited school this week. One of the Sisters will be teaching the children French in Year 4 after half term. It is great to have such strong links with our parish.

  

• Storytelling week

  Storytelling week has been a huge success. The children have learned stories from history, had a visit from an author motivating them to create amazing writing and had pyjama reading with hot chocolate in class. They have also taken part in auditions for poetry challenge. Thank you to the many parents in reception who shared stay and read on Monday. The children enjoyed sharing stories with you. The children now know so many authors and can express their opinions on which authors they enjoy. A visit to the library during half term would further develop their love of reading. A fabulous week. Thank you to all the staff for making it so special.

  

• Link with Morrisons

  Our links with Morrisons are growing even stronger. They visited this week with a parcel to celebrate Shrove Tuesday (Pancake day) The parcel contained lots if ingredients to make yummy pancakes. This will be shared out in breakfast club. All classes will be visiting the store during the remainder of the year; bag packing, singing Easter songs, learning where our food comes from and sourcing healthy items to cook back in school. –Lots of practical real life learning. It is wonderful to have local businesses supporting our school.

  

• SJPS in the snow

  On Tuesday 5^th February, the children enjoyed playing out in the snow. Although there was not as much as forecast they enjoyed exploring, tasting and having fun at playtime. A lovely occasion and one the children will remember.

  

• New road markings

  Fri 26 Jan 2018
  New road markings have been put along Rigby Street extending the no parking zones outside school to keep the children safe. Please be vigilant and considerate of others when parking. We want all our children to arrive and leave safely.

• Cinema Visit

  On 22nd of January the children of Years 5 and 6 went to Vue cinema to watch the film adaptation of the book Wonder. The children had already enjoyed the book and seemed to think that movie was just as good, though some people were annoyed at some of the changes!

   

  The children were very well behaved throughout the trip to and from the cinema and did some fantastic reviews, which you can read in their topic books.

  

• Ancient Egypt

  Our new topic is ‘Ancient Egypt’. We had a visit from Mr Egypt, he brought in authentic artefacts from ancient Egypt. The children learnt a lot of interesting facts. Ask your child what their favourite part of the day was.

  

• The Carol service

  The Carol service in church on Monday was also lovely. The children sang, read and joined in with enthusiasm.
  Well done to all the staff for preparing our children so well.
