Thank you to the Willow Garden Project in Fleetwood who kindly donated some home grown strawberry plants for our gardening club. The Willow Garden Project is a food growing community garden for adults with disabilities and mental health problems. The school is starting a gardening club for the lower juniors in the next couple of weeks so the strawberry plants will be a great addition to the planters.
Thank you to Pamela and Neil from the Willow Garden for taking the time to show us around their facility and for passing on some of their expert gardening tips!
The children who have had good attendance (97%+) were entered into the attendance raffle at the end of term winning loads of exciting prizes.
Well done to Mr Kay’s class who have consistently been the best attendees of the term winning the punctuality parrot, the attendance bear and extra playtime.
The children who have 100% attendance for EACH term are given the treat of FLIP OUT trampolining for the morning on the last day.
78 children (over 25%) of our children came to school every day this term.
Well done to them
We know from the photos you thoroughly enjoyed your treat
Have a wonderful EASTER EVERYONE

A huge thank you to all our children, parents, staff, governors and local community for their help in raising money for our Schools' Challenge. We had a very short period of time to raise as much money as possible and Cash For Kids agreed to match fund any amount raised up to £2000. We will be using the money towards a holiday club for our children. We were overwhelmed to raise a grand total of £4012.26.
Mrs Coupland (School Business Manager) and Mrs Ollerton (Family Support Worker) were delighted to be told the final amount raised at the Rock FM Studios this morning. We would also like to pass our enormous thanks to the Cash for Kids staff who support our school so well and who give us these amazing opportunities.
On 1st April 2019 we had a fabulous and exciting ‘Maths Day’. The morning was filled with the children discovering new maths skills and creating art work using maths as its base. In Year 6 the children were trusted with compasses with which they calculated different radii to draw various sized circles. They then used these circles to create artwork. Paul Klee’s ‘The Castle and the Sun’ was the piece of art Year 3/4 used to produce their own interpretation using the basic maths shapes. Symmetry was another theme used across the school. In the afternoon, the parents were invited into their child’s class to see how maths is taught and help solve the problems set by the teacher using ‘Bar Modelling’. Lots of fun was had.
SJPS choir, guitar club and school council went to Morrison’s to sing, play and bag pack to raise money for our CASH for Kids challenge on Thursday the 28th March.
We raised lots of money and were warmly welcomed by the staff and shoppers
Many thanks to everyone who has raised money for such a worthwhile local charity.
The children were superb and a testament to the talents and kind nature of our pupils.
Well Done Everyone
Mr Patel our ICT support and Mrs Ollerton our Family support worker along with the Office ladies got together for a Car Wash Challenge to raise money for Cash for Kids. They manage to wash over 20 cars.
Have a look at the pictures to see how they got on.
I am delighted to inform parents, governors and friends of SJPS, that on Friday 22nd March, SJPS was awarded Preston Primary School of the Year for Sport 2019.
We are absolutely thrilled to have been recognised for our sporting achievements. Miss Bell has done an amazing job transforming sport at our school. We are winning tournaments, participating in a wide range of events and enjoying the challenges, leadership and team skills sport brings for our children.
Many thanks go to all the staff who take part in sports clubs, attend sporting events and came along to cheer on our school successes.
We have another trophy to add to our growing collection.
It was also a double win for us as Christ the King, our feeder secondary school also won Secondary school of the year. Well done to them and their amazing staff team too.
Our school , parish and community celebrating the feast of St Josephs, our patron saint, on Tuesday 19th March
The celebration began with Mass at St Joseph’s church celebrated with the Bishop Paul.
The children then enjoyed hot cross buns; followed by art and craft activities linked to St Joseph.
The parish joined us in school for refreshments.
It was wonderful to be able to celebrate the life of St Josephs and the significance of his role in Jesus’s life.
