  • World Book Day 2019

    Thu 07 Mar 2019
World Book Day is such a magical day in the year. The children dress up as their favourite book character and learn about a variety of books throughout the day. They have had lots of fun researching authors, creating pieces of writing, making sculptures and creating art work. During assembly, one person from each class won a £5 voucher for WHSmith to buy a book of their choice. Well done and thank you to all the children who took part dressing up.
  • GOOD NEWS for SJPS

    Fri 01 Mar 2019
We have appointed Mr Gaughan as our Deputy Headteacher. He will bring lots of enthusiasm, new ideas, knowledge and experience to the role. He will be starting with us in September but will be regularly visiting and getting to know all the children and ways of working at St Joseph’s. It will be wonderful to have another strong leader to take our school on its journey of continued improvements. I know you will all give him a warm St Joseph’s welcome.

During story telling week, one of the challenges was to learn and perform a poem. All the children have been working hard to re-call and act out their poems. The standard of the poems were excellent and the classes were very competitive!

The winners of the poetry challenge were -

    KS1 - Year 1

    KS2 - Year 3/4

Well done to everybody who took part! They were all fantastic!

  • Internet Safety Day at SJPS

    Tue 05 Feb 2019

The annual internet safety day at St Joseph's was a great success. Each key stage had an assembly which raised awareness of the key theme for internet safety this year, consent. The children then completed activities in their classes around consent. The children discovered that not only do they need consent when being online at times, but they will also be asked for their consent. Ask your child what they learnt about consent on internet safety day 2019.

  • Story telling week - visit from an Author!

Tue 29 Jan 2019 Andrew Green
This week, during Story telling week, we have had a visit from a local Author and Illustrator called Andrew Green. He has written a range of children books and he performed his new book ‘Who’s taken it?’ to the whole school. He then led two fantastic workshops with Year 2 and Year 3/4. The children were inspired by Andrew, even the less enthusiastic boys in Year 6! A fantastic day by all!
