Year 2B - Mrs Pilkington

Mrs Pilkington

Welcome Back

Welcome back to school. My name is Mrs Pilkington and I will be teaching your child this year. The teaching assistants in class are: Mrs Kenyon and Mrs Topping. I hope you have enjoyed spending time together and we are sure you are now ready to start the new school year, so welcome to Year 2! We are looking forward to getting to know you and working together so that we have a very exciting and productive year. We will be working hard to ensure the children understand the new rules and routines of school. There are additional hand-sanitising stations installed through school and hand cleansing and sanitising protocols will be maintained throughout the day.

Children will be able to come on the playground from 8.40am and straight into class. Children will enter through the cloak room door as normal however parents are not permitted to enter into the cloak room. Year 2 children will exit at 3pm via the cloak room doors also. Due to traffic around school parents may wait on the school playground at the end of the school day, however we would appreciate it if you would wear a face covering and depart the playground as quickly as possible.

Your child will be coming home with a class dojo activation letter. We will be using class dojo to reward work, behaviour and participating in class. We will also use it to communicate with you throughout the year. We can instantly share messages, updates and photos from class. It is a great way to see what your child has been up to in class. Please follow the instructions on the letter sent home to set up your account and instantly see updates from us.

Your child will be given a reading book and a reading diary to bring home and read. They will need to keep their reading diary and books in their book bags to bring to school every day. Children can change books when their diary has been signed by someone at home to show they have read the book at least twice.  All books finished will be placed in a box for 72 hours before they get put back out. It is important you read at least 5 minutes with your child daily. The children will also have lots of opportunities to read and enjoy books throughout the week at school.

  • The children will be doing PE every Friday afternoon.  Please ensure your child has their PE kit in school and that all items are clearly labelled. The children will need their house T-Shirt, dark blue PE shorts and black pumps.
  • Any letters or reply slips, which need to be returned, can be put in your child’s book bag. The children are encouraged to check them each morning and give things in after the register.
  • The children will need to bring in their own water bottle to keep in class which they can access throughout the day and they will change their water regularly. Please make sure your child’s name is written clearly on their water bottle.
  • Homework will be sent out electronically- more information will follow soon
