LO: To spell words with the sh sound spelt ‘ch’

 

Some English words have been taken from other languages. English have borrowed a lot of words from French. When we spell these words they are spelt with a ch even though it sounds like ‘sh’.

 

Look at each of the words below that are spelt with a ch but sound like sh. Write them out in different colours to help you remember how to spell them. Find out the meaning of each word. Remember, the ‘ch’ makes a sh sound.

Jesus often told stories when he was teaching people. We call these parables. They are an earthly story with a heavenly meaning.

Jesus knew that the crowds enjoyed listening to his stories. He sometimes told stories that would make people think and even his disciples needed some of the parables explained to them.
