Happy New Year to you all.
I hope that you have all had a lovely Christmas. I'm sorry that we can't be together but I hope that you enjoy completing the learning activities that I am going to put on here under 'Remote Learning'. I hope that we can all be together again soon. If you have any questions, worries or queries you can send me a message on Class Dojo and I will get back to you a soon as possible.
The learning for the week will be updated every Monday morning.
Welcome back to school. My name is Mrs Pilkington and I will be teaching your child this year. The teaching assistants in class are: Mrs Kenyon and Mrs Topping. I hope you have enjoyed spending time together and we are sure you are now ready to start the new school year, so welcome to Year 2! We are looking forward to getting to know you and working together so that we have a very exciting and productive year. We will be working hard to ensure the children understand the new rules and routines of school. There are additional hand-sanitising stations installed through school and hand cleansing and sanitising protocols will be maintained throughout the day.
Children will be able to come on the playground from 8.40am and straight into class. Children will enter through the cloak room door as normal however parents are not permitted to enter into the cloak room. Year 2 children will exit at 3pm via the cloak room doors also. Due to traffic around school parents may wait on the school playground at the end of the school day, however we would appreciate it if you would wear a face covering and depart the playground as quickly as possible.
Your child will be coming home with a class dojo activation letter. We will be using class dojo to reward work, behaviour and participating in class. We will also use it to communicate with you throughout the year. We can instantly share messages, updates and photos from class. It is a great way to see what your child has been up to in class. Please follow the instructions on the letter sent home to set up your account and instantly see updates from us.
Your child will be given a reading book and a reading diary to bring home and read. They will need to keep their reading diary and books in their book bags to bring to school every day. Children can change books when their diary has been signed by someone at home to show they have read the book at least twice. All books finished will be placed in a box for 72 hours before they get put back out. It is important you read at least 5 minutes with your child daily. The children will also have lots of opportunities to read and enjoy books throughout the week at school.
Here is a list of websites we will be directing you to use and some things we use in class already to help.
