Morning challenge/ letter formation

Use the green work book in your learning packs to practise writing the letter ' v '




Please ensure your child follows the Phonics lessons daily. This will support your child to read. In Reception, they need to learn Set 1 followed by Set 2. Please click on the link and watch the lesson virtually. Each day, a new sound will be added.


The Video's will be live from 9.30am and will last for 24 hours.

Daily task -

  • to hold a pencil and practise letter formation
  • to write your name
  • to speak in full sentences


L:O- To continue a rhyming string. 


A rhyming word is 2 or more words that end in the same or similar sounds. 

They sound very similar. Such as cat, mat, hat or ring, king.

Play the game - match the picture to the correct rhyming word.



Use sheet 'week 5, sheet 1' from your learning pack.

In each rhyming strip, circle the three words that rhyme. One will be left out.



Can you think of your own rhyming words to match the pictures?

Maths (AM)

L:O- To discuss the properties of 2D shapes. 

Sing the 2D shape song. There is a link below. 

Today we will continue to look at how many sides each 2D shape has.

Can you find triangles around your house?

How many sides does it have?

Triangles have 3 sides. 

Can you find rectangles around your house?

How many sides does it have?

Rectangles have 4 sides.

They have 2 long sides and 2 short sides. 

Can you talk about tringles and rectangles? Speak in full sentences.

E.G: A rectangle has 4 sides. It has 2 short sides and 2 long sides.


Now use your shape mat and talk about the following shapes:

circle, triangle, square and rectangle.


Speak in full sentences to describe each shape. Talk about how many sides each shape has. Decide if the sides are short, long or curved.

L:O- To recognise different types of houses

Stand outside your house with your grown up and look at your house.

Where do you live? Can you find out what your address is?

What is your street name?

What does your house look like?

Look at the houses on your street. What do they look like?

Use the video to name different houses on your street. 

Talk about how they are different?



Draw two different style houses and talk about them.
