English

LO: to retell a story

Today we would like you to begin to retell the story of Dogger using the story map which you drew last Friday.  Have a look at the photograph below to get an idea of what we want you do.  Please don’t just copy this but use your own ideas and words.

Now have a go at writing the first part of Dogger, please just write up to the same point as the writing in the photograph.

Maths

LO: To count and write numbers to 20

Please find the worksheet at the bottom which contains number cards to 20.  Begin this week by printing these and cutting them out.  If you don’t have a printer, you could carefully write the numbers onto little pieces of paper or card.  Please keep these numbers once you have made them as you will need them again later this week.    Practise counting to 20 and then back to 0, start at different numbers.  Can you mix up the number cards and then put them into the correct order, forward and backwards.

Next turn all of the cards over so that you can’t see the numbers, pick a number and copy it into book. Then can you show what this number would look like on a ten frame.  Follow the link to watch a video of Mrs Barraclough showing you how to do this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rB19h0j2SlM

You can print out some ten frames at the bottom of the class page  or you could ask you adult to draw some in your book for you.  Try to do this for lots of different numbers.

Science

LO: to say which part of the body is associated with each sense

Remind yourself of the 5 senses and the part of the body where that sense is by looking at and reading the power point at the bottom of the class page with your adult.

Then use your senses to complete a scavenger hunt around your house and garden.  There is a worksheet that you can print at the bottom of the class page, if you don’t have a printer just copy the ideas onto a piece of paper.

Maths

LO: To use numbers 11-20

Use your number cards from yesterday, ask your adult to mix up the numbers 11-20.  Can you put them back into the right order?  What about if your adult ‘steals’ some of the numbers, can you spot which numbers are missing?

Today we are continuing to work with numbers 11-20, but today we are going to solve some problems with them.

In your books can you write down numbers which are

* larger than 13

* smaller than 17

* between 12 and 19.

 There is more than 1 number each time, can you find them all?  Then show the number on a ten frame (printed or drawn).

Topic

LO: to put events on a timeline

We are continuing with our topic about ‘The Great Fire of London’.  Have a look at the power point at the bottom of the class page. Ask your adult to help you to read it and then talk about it, particularly what happened during The Great Fire of London and the order that they happened.  Then choose some of the main events of The Great Fire of London and create a timeline.  There is a template at the bottom of the page for you to print or you can draw a timeline in your book if you don’t have a printer.  Draw a picture and write a sentence for each of the events that you choose.

English

LO: to retell a story

Today we would like you to continue to retell the story of Dogger using the story map which you drew last Friday.  There is a photograph at the bottom of the page to help you with this.

Look at the beginning of the story which you wrote on Monday and work today to finish retelling the story of Dogger.

Remember what we look for in good sentences:

Capital letters

Full stops

Finger spaces

Adjectives (describing words, for example fluffy)

Bridge words (and, but and because).

Maths

LO: To understand that numbers 11-19 have 1 ten and some more.

Follow this link to watch a video showing Miss Craig modelling how to show numbers 11-19 as tens and ones https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jMYDpn5OQJQ

Now use the number cards that you made on Monday to choose a number, write the number in your book and then show that number represented as tens and ones (14 would be drawn as 1 line for the ten and 4 squares for the 4 ones).  Once you have done that write a sentence to explain how many tens and ones are in the number;

14 is 1 ten and 4 ones.

Try to do the same for all of the numbers from 11-19

English

LO: to plan my own story

Today we want you to think about how you could use the story of Dogger to help you to write your own story about losing a toy.  There are examples at the bottom of the page which the children in school have done.

Now we want you to draw your own story map to show your new story idea.  Remember to use Dogger as a starting point for your story but change the toy that gets lost and the place that the toy gets lost, for example the park or on the bus.  If you are feeling clever you could give the characters in your story new names too.

Maths

LO: To count one more and one less.

Follow this link to play the ‘Shark attack’ game to practise your tens and ones http://www.ictgames.com/sharkNumbers/mobile/index.html

You can start with smaller numbers, but then move onto larger numbers if you are feeling clever.

Today we want you to think about one more and one less than a number.  We have looked at this before, but today we are going to look at larger numbers.  Begin by choosing one of your number cards, write the number in your book and then work out one more and one less than that number and write them down too.  When you have done this show the numbers using tens and ones (like yesterday’s lesson).

Challenge

How many different ways can you complete this challenge

___ is one more than ___

Show the numbers using tens and ones each time.

PSHE

LO: To think about times when we might be worried or nervous and how this might make us feel.

Talk about times when we can feel nervous, worried, anxious or scared about something, for example, going somewhere we haven’t been before. Think about how our body might feel when we are worried or anxious about something.

  • Butterflies in the tummy
  • Feeling hot
  • Feeling sweaty
  • Feeling sick
  • Hands might shake
  • Needing the toilet
  • Going red in the face

Talk about the fact that all these feeling are normal and they don’t last for ever.

There is a worksheet at the bottom of the page to complete to help you to think about these feeling.  If you don’t have a printer then you could draw a gingerbread man on a piece of paper and complete the activity.  XXXX

Today we are look at groups of objects and comparing them to find which is greater than or less than.  Begin today by finding some small objects to help you, counters, pieces of pasta or buttons all work well or you may have your own ideas.  Use some of these small objects to make 2 groups of objects.  Can you work out which group is greater than or less than, can you make 2 groups which are equal?

Follow this link to watch a video to help you with today’s lesson https://vimeo.com/483168827
