Phonics

Please ensure your child follows the Phonics lessons daily. This will support your child to read. In Reception, they need to learn Set 1 followed by Set 2. Please click on the link and watch the lesson virtually. Each day, a new sound will be added.

 

The Video's will be live from 9.30am and will last for 24 hours.

Watch today's video. It is of our story ' Duck in the truck'

This is a rhyming story. 

A rhyming word is 2 or more words that end in the same or similar sounds. 

They sound very similar. Such as cat, mat, hat or ring, king. 

- Listen to the story

- Find the rhyming words in the story

- Write a list of rhyming words that you can hear in the story

Today we will start to look at how many sides each 2D shape has.

Look around your house for circles and squares.

Can you count how many sides the shapes have?

Squares have 4 sides.

Circles have one curved side.

Now look at your shape word mat from last week. Tell me about a square and a circle. 

'Squares have 4 equal sides'

Can you find different sized circles and squares in your house and discuss which the biggest and smallest?

L:O- To make a Lenten promise. 

 

Lent is a season of reflection and preparation for Easter. During lent, we think about Jesus giving up his life for us. Lent is marked by fasting both from food and festivities.

 

Task: Can you think of your own Lenten promise?

Write your promise down in your writing book.

You can decorate and colour in this page .

See if you can keep your promise for 40 days to show Jesus you are thinking about how he gave up his life for us.
