Year 5/6 Mrs Newton

Mrs Newton

A huge welcome back to our year 5/6 children and welcome to the children who have joined our school this year! It has been lovely to meet all of your children and see them all looking so smart at the beginning of the new school term. I'm delighted to see that your children are being so friendly and welcoming to our new children and are ready to learn.

We have an exciting term ahead for the children with our topic of 'Survival' encouraging them to expand their understanding of our world. As part of this topic we will be studying Michael Morpurgo's 'Kensuke's Kingdom'.

Children will have their PE lessons every Monday afternoon. They should keep their PE kit in school to ensure that they are prepared for the learning. These will be sent home every half term.

Children will be given homework and spellings every Friday, this should be returned on a Wednesday. I am available at lunch times if children are struggling with their homework.

In addition to this, children will bring home a reading book every night. Children should read at home every night to support their learning in school.

If you have any worries or concerns about your child, I am available to speak to every night after school.

Many thanks,

Mrs Newton and Mrs LaRocque.

Friday 29th September

This afternoon, children have been decorating gingerbread men for the families joining us at mass on Sunday. We had some very creative designs. We hope all of the families and parishners enjoy them!
